Black Hat vs. White Hat vs. Green Hat
The world of SEO is a very interesting place. It was not that long ago that SEO did not have a name. But, today SEO has become an entire industry unto itself. There are a number of different fields in SEO just like there is in the car business. In the world of car sales, you have new cars salesmen, used car salesmen, car brokers, leasing companies and a myriad of other types, all looking to make a few bucks. Each is going about their deal in a different way, but ultimately, they are looking to make money at the end of the day. SEO is much the same. You have your White Hat SEOs who are out there trying to make SEO a legitimate business. Not sure why they are worrying about doing this. It seems the harder people try to make SEO pristine and clean, the more people try to game search engines like Google and Yahoo. Then you have your Black Hat types that are simply looking to circumvent as many systems as they can and profit from it. Spamming, bypassing CAPTCHAs, you name it, these guys are out to win. Thinking about jacking up someone’s bulletin board is not a concern, if the software were secure it wouldn’t be a problem. Then you have your Green Hat types. This might be the “best” group in the bunch. Mixing both White Hat and Black Hat practices to achieve their goals. This post of course is completely meaningless. I spent most of my weekend having a great time with friends and drinking everything from beers to fine wines. So, what does all of this mean? Not much coming out of my braid today makes any sense. I ever watched great stories about doing small time but make great time. I was surprised, so I ignored them. But it is my fault, so you must not capable and follow me to do that. When the time was changed the ecosystem will be changed too. But one can’t be changed, it is the changes itself. Why? No more to explain that. Getting the most valuable person like you is my future lucky. The best time to do that is with my brain. Offline time can be bored, so why don’t you use online time to become rich together? Vacation can be good one; especially we hope that after reaching success, time we spent can be substituted with great time for vacation. Myths and rumors abound on the being banned for cloaking issue, and five experts will probably give you six different answers … Well, here is mine: ……don’t be fooled by the hype!
Can your core web site get banned by the search engines for cloaking? If that was true, then your competitor could build some cloaked domains and point them to your primary web site so that it would be banned! Think of the damage that would be done if that was at all true. Not a very likely scenario, is it?
So can you really have your “cloaked” domains banned for cloaking? The answer is yes – if, for example, the search engines’ staff have manually checked and compared your spider content with what you are actually serving your human visitors. In a worst case scenario a human editor may come along to check the matter out.
On the other hand, it is highly unlikely that you will get penalized or banned unless some silly campaign build mistake has taken place. If a cloaking campaign is implemented professionally and with sound marketing techniques, your chances of being banned are minimal.
Note that I do NOT condone cloaking for misleading purposes: it is counter productive and will only serve to make life more difficult for all parties concerned.
So can cloaking be abused? Sure it can! But so are kitchen knives and painkillers. I for my part have never advocated misleading search engine optimization, if only because it’s dumb marketing. There’s no excuse in the world for misleading visitors like that and it certainly doesn’t seem to pay off either, which is why the SERPs is actually seeing less and less of such practises these days.
But let’s face realities here: while the search engines may take a strong-arm stance against cloaking in public, they don’t really seem to worry too much about it in everyday life, even if they state otherwise.
One of the reasons being that there’s so much legitimate cloaking about, it would simply be impossible to weed it all out. Else, you might well expect the world’s top 1000 web properties to disappear from the SERPs.
It’s quite important to realize this fact before fretting about the possible penalization of cloaking, as so many clueless SEOs are preaching, without a single tangible proof of what they’re claiming to know absolutely everything about.
