How to Get Into Google News

In keeping with my recent facination with Blogs, today I am going to discuss a few ways to get a blog post or press release into Google News.

Before I get into this, I wanted to mention something interesting I noticed the other day. On one of the pages listed for a site we occaisionally do work for, the XML or RSS feed was listed as a page. FireFox and IE have no problem displaying the URL, but under the page results, Google placed a message saying, “Unknown Format.” It is pretty shocking to me that Google cannot recognize an XML feed at this point….especially, when it is created by their own Blogger.com. Nice work guys.

Getting a Press Release Into Google News

There are a couple of ways that will give you a good shot at getting your press release into Google News. I am not going to go into the “what is” and “why” of press releases. Suffice it to say that if you have a “serious” busniess online and you are not issuing a few a year, you are missing out on some great targeted traffic. PR Leap is a press release syndication service that will distribute your approved press release to a number of different online sources, including Google News. This is probably the best method to begin with.

Another press release syndicator that may be able to get your PR into Google News is Press World. The site is not the most “professional” looking, but I have read that they are a good way to get your press release into Google News as well.

Getting Your Blog Into Google News

One idea for getting your Blog into Google News is to use similar syndication services like Feedster, Feeds Farm, and Moreover. Getting into Moreover may also give you some extra exposure via MSN’s newsbot search. But, I have not tested this yet. But, that is on the schedule for tonight. :)
