Google’s “Update” Continues

Well, it has been nearly a week now and it seems there are changes reported just about every second from the SEO forums. Some people got “screwed” and some are elated. Personally, I am happy I am headed up to Vancouver this weekend and then to Whistler. Unfortunately, there appears to be no snow in Whistler, but I don’t really care.

What is interesting about this latest turn of events is that a website I own, actually the oldest site I own (circa 1996-1997) is currently ranking for some pretty competitive keywords…out of nowhere. The site is listed in the Yahoo! directory as well as in DMOZ, but has very little “onpage” SEO as well as IBL’s (with the exception of all of the DMOZ clones out there). So, what happened that all of a sudden Google thinks this is the cat’s meow? I have no idea, and to be honest, I don’t care. Why? Simple. If Google has decided that this is how they are going to return results, then they are in for a rude awakening. In case they didn’t notice Microsoft, the brute, is after them. Fads come and go and if Google doesn’t want to be the next fad that has gone by the wayside, they better pay attention and get their act together.

I just hope that this has nothting to do with their revenues. That is for my conspiracy theory blog. Cheers.
