Blogging for Lilnks
I am no professional blogger, but I can appreciate the ease with which you can add content to a number of websites quickly and easily. Plus, with technologies like trackback, building links to relevant content has never been so easy. If you are running a blog, then you should really check into the trackback software. Haloscan makes an add-on version that works with just about every blog platform out there.
I recently read an interesting post over at the DP forums about people using a My Yahoo! account to help get their blogs indexed by inktomi and Yahoo!. I have not had a problem getting any of my blogs indexed as they are all linked to from the site they are a part of, but I did it anyway. It took me all of about 5 minutes to set it up and if it gets more visits from Slurp, it is the best 5 minutes I have spent for SEM/SEO. All you have to do is setup a My Yahoo! account http://my.yahoo.com/ and “add content” to your start page. You will see a link to “Add RSS URL” to your page. Click that, enter your urls and you are all set.
I still need to learn more about trackback and “strategies” to help build links to relevant content. I am not sure there has been a guide written for the SEO/SEM community yet, so I may have to put one together in my “spare time.” More later.
